Scam Case File — Delete Your Account and Data

You are always in control of the case files you keep in Scam Case File. This page explains how to delete some of your data, or all of it including your account.

Delete individual items yourself, any time

Sign in to the app and you can delete, yourself, at any time:

• A whole case — open the case and tap Delete case. This removes the case together with its timeline notes, identifier board entries, evidence files, and reporting checklist.
• A single identifier — open the case and tap Remove next to the entry on the identifier board.
• A single evidence file — open the case and tap Remove next to the file in the evidence vault.
• Your Family Shield entries — open Family Shield, clear the fields, and save.

Deleted items are removed from the database and cannot be recovered.

Delete your whole account

To delete your account and everything in it — your email address on the account, all cases, notes, identifiers, evidence files, reporting checklists, and Family Shield entries — send an email asking for account deletion to:

• Send the email from the address you used to create your Scam Case File account, so we can confirm the account is yours.
• Put “Delete my Scam Case File account” in the subject line.
• We will delete the account and all of its data within 30 days of your request, and email you back to confirm once it is done. In practice it is normally handled much sooner.

There is nothing else you need to do, and there is no fee. If you exported reports and sent them to anyone (for example the FBI IC3, the FTC, the FCC, a reporting tipline, or your local police), those copies are held by that recipient and are not affected by deleting your account here.

What we keep after deletion

Nothing. Account deletion removes the account and all of its stored data from Scam Case File. We keep no backup copy of your case files for our own use.
